Therapeutic Exercise is an exercise applied in a therapeutic manner with the goal of restoring or improving a patient's physiological well-being. It is one of the key tools used to restore and improve a patient's neuromusculoskeletal or cardiopulmonary well-being. The ultimate achievement of any therapeutic exercise program is symptom free movement and/or function.
A considerable number of medical conditions could be treated more effectively and with less resultant disability if therapeutic exercises - passive, active and progressive - were accurately prescribed and supervised by a doctor as part of the treatment program.
